Relative Performance of US Market vs. Other Countries

I was surprised to find out that the US market is among the worst performing ones of the major markets in the world during the last five years as well as the past twelve months, by a wide margin. The Asia-Pacific markets (Australia, Hong Kong and Tokyo) are the winners. Even the Europe markets have been doing much better than the US.
